A Feast for Your Senses: Cabo Eats

If you’ve got your sights set on visiting the stunning Cabo San Lucas this year, you have to visit my top three favorite restaurants, starting with the most spectacular dining experience I’ve ever had!

Trip Advisor agrees! The Office and Sunset Monalisa both made their list of the Top 10 Best Restaurants in Cabo

When Champagne and I first were just starting to date, he took me to casual dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. I don’t remember where we went or what we ate but the very next day he suggested that we go for Mexican again. I knew right then and there that this could be someone I could marry! Just kidding (sort of).

We’ve both always had a strong affinity for tacos, guacamole, enchiladas, queso, you name it, we like it! So, when our anniversary landed on a date during a scheduled family vacation to Cabo, we decided to go a few days early to celebrate just the two of us. A Cabo-loving friend insisted that we go to Sunset Monalisa and, after a cursory look at their website, we booked a reservation and it did not disappoint.

As soon as we walked in, our jaws dropped at the stunning and dramatic view over the water. The restaurant is carved into a cliff overlooking the Bay of Cabo with a view of the world-famous Arch.

We went early to have a cocktail at the bar while watching the waves crash below as the sun set perfectly over the horizon, like what you might see in a movie. Dinner is a fine dining experience presented in the most casual and comfortable way. They have nine terrace locations so you constantly feel like your enjoying private dining. As the sun went down, the staff brought out cozy blankets to combat the cool evening breeze (we visited in January).

For appetizers, order the Mussels made with tequila, chili pepper and coconut milk as well as the Tuna Tartar with organic green beans, tomato and quail eggs. For your entree, try the Braised Lamb over chickpea puree or, if you’re more adventurous, try the Spontaneous Tasting Menu.

Flora Farms is a not just a restaurant, it’s a destination. Located in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains a short drive from Cabo, you can visit the spa, take a cooking or painting class, shop or even enjoy summer movie night on the stunning grounds! Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.

Order the heirloom carrot Farmarita, Flora Farm's spin on the traditional Margarita, and try the Farm Bacon with Farm Egg pizza. Don’t skip the home-made ice cream cart (made with milk, eggs and vanilla from the farm). Try the café con leche or chocoflan. A visit to this 25 acre organic working farm is a must-do and don’t forget your camera!

The Office on the Beach serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but be prepared for a bit of wait time (worth it!). You’ll dine right on the beach with your toes in the sand listening to the sounds of the waves rush in.

Order the Acapulco style Shrimp Civeche, the fresh Sea Bass tacos and don’t forget the guacamole. And since you’ve ordered on the lighter side for lunch, be sure to order a refreshing cocktail while you wait.

We got a margarita and a bloody mary...both of which were gigantic and delicious!
